InfoFi and AI Slop
Zach will probably block me for this (I hope not), but I don’t think InfoFi is the root problem.
AI slop is real. The anger is justified.
I have made almost 200k 'posts' on X in four years. Most of them gm/gn replies. That's an average of 130 replies and about 6 posts per day.
I have been thinking about my own online behaviour and I see the effects of ChatGPT and other LLM's paired with the rise of AI.
I want to change. You will only receive a reply from me, if your reply sparks a thought or provides value. It will be 100% written by myself.
AI replies are taking over everything, not just InfoFi incentivised platforms. Accounts that artificially boost their reach are using AI farms.
The human mind is wired in a way that account a) with 1k followers is perceived as less valuable than account b) with 100k followers. Without any further 'facts' almost all tend to account b).
All of the above is being used to game the system but on an autonomous, bigger level. With AI. Instant replies, same monotonous vibe.
Before, one stood out by max posting. It was mostly human vs human. Now it is human vs AI. We cannot win this battle. The best outcome is to adapt.
Reply less, with higher quality.
I would say that platforms like Cookie are actively fighting AI slop and botted accounts. Their algorithm tries to scan through all of this and shine some transparency.
All algorithms scan your engagement online. It is monitored and patterns are boosted or penalised. It is far from perfect.
I am against AI slop, but in favour of InfoFi.
