What Kevin Roberts at Heritage Foundation (and its trustees), and the post-liberals, and the Woke, and all ideologues in history ever, all don't understand is that the smart and talented people they're losing don't just go away. They go somewhere else that will outcompete them later. Ideologues, as a rule, have a distorted understanding of reality that holds that strength of conviction to the ideology is what makes things work. This is false, though, so they always end up with worse talent that misdirects resources, and that's while it stays good. Smart, talented people will smoke them every time once they're almost as organized. Heritage faces a massive brain drain now that will be to its detriment and to its competitors' advantage. It can't be any other way because of the facts about ideologues. You can only spin this kind of thing for so long. Eventually, you're just losing. Of course, this is now playing out catastrophically at Heritage, and we all get to watch.
