sourcify.eth
Source code verification for Ethereum smart contracts: open-source, open-data, open-standards.
An @argotorg project and a member of @verifalliance
✅ Solidez & Vyper

the 2 big moats of @etherscan , from @SourcifyEth dev @kaanuzdogan and the solutions for it
1. A massive database of proprietary smart contracts along with labels on each
as a developer, what's the 1st thing you do after launching a smart contract?
you get it verified on etherscan since humans can't read the byte code on ethereum and we need to know your github code is the one actually running
the crazy part is etherscan's entire database of verified smart contracts is proprietary (you can manually access on their frontend but scraping is illegal)
which basically puts them at pole position for building an AI model for smart contract coding, especially since all the labels are also proprietary
this is still better than solana which doesn't have a culture of source code verification
2. Etherscan has massive network effects which they use to double charge both API users and chains
to their credit, it is freely maintained for ethereum
but L2s have to pay 6 figures a year and users querying them with an API also need to pay
The solution?
the unified verification plugin at Remix (with hardhat and foundry upcoming) let you run once and verify everywhere
so it would show up on etherscan, sourcify, blockscout, etc without the smart contract deployer manually integrating each
similarly the @open_labels by @growthepie_eth gathers labels from different sources so we don't need to rely on a closed database
