GPT-5: THE “UPGRADE” THAT MADE CHATGPT WORSE
When OpenAI swapped out GPT-4o for GPT-5 last week they got scorched for it.
It wasn’t nostalgia. It was outrage over a downgrade: GPT-5 felt colder, dumber, and shorter-winded.
Head of ChatGPT Nick Turley admitted killing 4o without warning “was a miss.” Sam Altman called GPT-5 “not as annoying (to most users),” which says it all.
After the backlash, OpenAI is bringing 4o back - as an opt-in. And they swear next time, they’ll at least warn you before breaking what works.
