This is the fuckery required to get a replacement British passport… >can’t get replacement passport through any British embassy >must MAIL IN your passport WHILST ABROAD and wait up to 2 months, leaving you without ID to do most things >i come back to UK, pay extra for 1 day fast track passport replacement >get told to not come to appointment in London day before because my passport application is going through additional security screening. >already paid for fast passport renewal and tickets to London >have no criminal record > get told that it can take up to 2 months >get told to send in additional documents >send in additional documents >additional documents don’t get delivered because “passport office can’t sign for parcels” >send again without signing requirement >no news on passport replacement >call up >20 mins on hold >woman says my documents (inc my passport) have not arrived, probably lost >call up shipping company, they say it has been delivered >passport office says they’re looking for it but if the post office has lost my passport or they’ve lost my passport, I’ll have to pay for a new application because it’s “not a renewal but a lost and stolen application” >don’t get compensated for the fast track premium >if I spend over XYZ time in the UK I have to pay 6 figs in taxes because I become a UK tax resident. >have to pay for accommodation whilst waiting How is this normal?
