This is *not* a @EFDevcon recap…
These are my personal observations about @ethereumfndn and the team.
1) FEEDBACK
First and most importantly:
EF is listening.
They realize there are things that can be improved and they’re working on it (give them time).
@KhanAbbas201 is an incredible guy, I have so much faith in the support his team offers founders.
I saw a tweet that said something like “instead of invisible gardens we talked about real things.”
People love Ethereum’s ethos but it’s understandable why they want to move beyond vision and into tangible topics such as fundraising, hiring, and revenue.
2) CREATIVE & CULTURE
@lou3ee has forever changed the space.
His work isn’t just to make vIdEoS. He’s bringing the soul of Ethereum to the forefront. And he’s working like there’s no tomorrow.
Truly a game-changing hire for the EF.
@binji_x is a really cool guy. He’s got swag. To me, he’s the primary Ethereum KOL culturally.
@JBSchweitzer is crushing it with PR which is one of the hardest and most under-appreciated jobs in the space (trust me, I worked in PR, I know 🙂)
I like the new direction of Ethereum’s socials (more “insider” content, DevConnect engaging back when we post on X and IG; socials feel friendlier and more alive).
Kudos to @ERasowsky. I feel like she’s got a lot more planned for us.
3) VALUES
@ThewizardofPOS @yoavw and @VitalikButerin’s Trustless Manifesto brings back critical values at a decisive time in the evolution of crypto.
A very prominent founder told me that they think the interop layer may be what preserves the values of Ethereum and saves the space from being “eaten” by the institutions.
(Because it would minimize internal competition).
I personally joined the Ethereum ecosystem for its values of freedom and sovereignty and I’ve been sad to see so many concessions being made in crypto overall just to get the institutional bag.
(but I also understand how business woks and sometimes you just need that $).
This was my second time MC-ing for @tkstanczak. His one-liner on how you have to move fast but be precise and choosing between the two shouldn’t even be an option stuck with me.
4) COMMUNITY
@OrnellaWeb3 is absolutely glowing in her new role. She was my first friend in crypto and the person who onboarded me!
She’s been giving so much love to all volunteers and making them feel seen (recognition matters more than you think).
The volunteers — I had some really great exchanges. A very kind person carried my heavy booth bags all the way from the entrance.
I love that @EFDevcon was able to make this trip happen for them.
Creators: I’ve never seen anything on this scale until this event.
I walked by a dozen people who were filming on Osmo, phones, cameras….
People are empowered to step out of the shadows and be seen. To tell stories (BLI - Big Louie Influence) 📷
And I don’t know if you know this, but @EFDevcon gifted tickets to about 100 creators. Bullish.
[With that said, we are experiencing a Creator bubble which will burst in 6-12 months time. I’ll do a separate post on how to prepare and what that means].
5) FUTURE
Final point on what I’d like to see (and this is based on my experience going to non-ETH events with @WalletConnect this year):
-> it would be incredible if the EF set up a studio for Creators (like Solana did in NYC)
-> I’d love to see a Masterclass-style training for new founders (can be recorded in the studio), and a continuation of the founder mentorship program
-> I’m really really bullish on @EFetheverywhere (this concept is proven by Solana Superteams so we know it works). I hope there’s sufficient support provided for these decentralized hubs
Overall…
I’m very excited to see what @ethereumfndn accomplishes in the next 6-12 months.
Their recent hires feel like an injection of fresh energy and a step in the direction we hope to go in.
Keep bringing good people onboard.
